It’s the last year of work for Franco Lorenzoni, an elementary school teacher at the primary school in Giove, a small town in Umbria, before retirement. His fifth-grade class documents the school year, transforming themselves into a production company: they create a laboratory on film directing, they put together an editing room, create storyboards, etc. Including the teacher’s reflections and the students’ feelings, the film tells the story of the work they did together during the school year. Created entirely by the students, the film was then presented at the Sotto18 Film Festival in Turin. Beyond the filmmaking experiment, this documentary becomes a story of what is possible in a democratic and inclusive school and a way to provide students with the means and skills to interpret the world and the reality around them.

Join us and director Davide Vavalà for a live discussion of the movie Sunday, August 9 at 11:00 AM!
