Description

Alessandro is a 22-year-old turbulent and ignorant slacker from the Trastevere neighborhood in Rome. He lost his mother when he was two and has become the torment of his father – a peddler in Porta Portese, the local flea-market – who can’t imagine a future for his idle and furious son and is unable to find the key to his heart. Giorgio is eighty-five; he is a forgotten poet, who lives in solitude and restraint in a flat on the Gianicolo Hill, with only the help and care of his landlady and neighbor. He is in an early stage of Alzheimer’s: he can still move, but his mind is drifting relentlessly away from the present. The two live within a stone’s throw from one another, but their paths have never crossed, and couldn’t be more distant. But this story puts them together when Alessandro is offered to accompany the old man in his afternoon walks and is forced to accept the job.
